Used Motor Oil & Filter Recycling

If you change your car’s oil yourself, finish the job right by recycling your used oil and oil filter. Used oil can contain such compounds as lead, magnesium, copper, zinc, chromium, arsenic, chlorides and cadmium. It is illegal to dump it into a storm drain or in your trash—motor oil poured down drains ends up in ground and surface waters. According to federal reports, used motor oil accounts for over 40 percent of the oil pollution of our nation’s harbors and waterways.

By recycling your used motor oil and filters every time they’re changed, you help keep our oceans clean, our beaches safe, and our families healthy. By recycling motor oil, you’re also providing a source of oil that helps conserve natural resources.
